Users of health care rely on a diverse range of
private-sector entities, including for-profit practitioners and NGOs, as
their main source of healthcare services and products. Yet the private
sector often is not considered in public health planning. Central
Government Institutions must strive to expand private participation in
public health initiatives — acting as partners, guides, and regulators to
realize the benefits of private sector engagement in achieving broad-scale
health goals.
